Every Day Uses of Herbs

I have been incorporating herbs into many of my everyday activities; so much so that now they are staples around my house. For health and beauty, I use rosewater made from fresh rose petals for a facial and body rinse after a shower. This is such a refreshing skin toner that no lotion can compare. And there are no harsh or potentially dangerous synthetic chemicals in the simple, yet elegant, preparations you can make from herbs.

For an air freshener and cleanser, put several drops of pure essential oils into a water mister. The oils of orange and peppermint are very uplifting. If someone is sick from a cold, a few drops of eucalyptas oil, with water of course, can be used. For that matter, any pure oils of your desire can be used in this way.

If some garment has been hanging in the closet needs to be refreshed, put a few drops of an essential oil on a clean facecloth and put both in your dryer for a few minutes. This works great!

When in the kitchen, you can add cayenne and garlic to almost any home made dish. Use them sparingly. You don't need to overpower the flavor of your food to gain the benefits of these two health-giving herbs. For a refreshing drink on a hot day, add a few mint leaves, or a few borage leaves and flowers, to any cold drink. These two herbs are very cleansing and refreshing. With a little imagination, herbs can be incorporated into many every day uses.
